The first fruits of our labor

This is the second year that Troy and I have planted a vegetable garden. We enjoy eating and preserving our produce for meals throughout the year. This morning I picked the first peas of the year – the first ready-to-eat produce of the year.

Our weedy garden has red and green cabbage, beans, peas, carrots, onions, leeks, broccoli, cauliflower, corn, artichoke, lettuce, peppers, tomatoes, Swiss chard and spinach. We also have a red potato tower and squash, melons, okra, and Brussels sprouts planted outside the garden in separate planters.

Wow, talk about variety! We really should compare notes as we both try and figure this growing plants thing out. There are days I think the cows were easier!

Cows were definitely easier! I had a heck of a time starting with seed this year. Most of my corn, chard, and lettuce didn’t come up. Soooo frustrating! Lost some to frost last month, too. We will keep trying!

Now please tell us how you are going to use these delicious peas? 🙂
